The California Horse Racing Board is accepting applications for the position of executive director to replace Roy C. Wood, who will retire on Dec. 30.
The annual salary for the position is $108,864 plus benefits. The main office is located in Sacramento, but the position involves travel throughout the state while fulfilling the CHRB mission to regulate horse racing in California.
The official job announcement, which will contain detailed information and instructions on how to file, will be issued by Sept. 20 via mailings to California and national racing entities and notices published in national racing publications. Additionally, the job announcement will be posted on the CHRB Web site (www.chrb.ca.gov).
Applicants should contact Paige Noble, chief of administration, by telephone (916-263-6000) or e-mail (PaigeN@chrb.ca.gov). Applications will be accepted for a minimum of 30 days.
Racing commissioners Marie Moretti and Jerry Moss have agreed to serve on a committee to review those applications and search for a suitable replacement. They will evaluate the initial candidate pool. The search and screening committee will select the most qualified applicants for consideration by the full board for appointment to the position.
