Roar of the Tiger to Hartley/De Renzo in Florida

Stakes-placed Roar of the Tiger, a full brother to champion and prominent freshman sire Giant's Causeway, has been retired from racing and will enter stud as a joint effort between John Jones III and Robert Trussell's Walmac International and Randy Hartley and Dean De Renzo's Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds. The 5-year-old son of Storm Cat will stand for $6,000 at Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, Walmac South near Ocala, Fla.

A Kentucky-bred, Roar of the Tiger initially raced in Ireland, where he captured one of four starts. He was returned to the U.S. the second part of 2002 and finished third to Mineshaft   in an allowance race at Churchill Downs in his first outing, then won at Fair Grounds in his next two starts. He later scored at Oaklawn Park and was stakes-placed in the Governor's Handicap at Ellis Park in August.

Roar of the Tiger retired with four wins from 11 starts and earnings of $97,184. His dam, Mariah's Storm (by Rahy), won six graded stakes.

Successful Appeal  , this year's leading first-crop stallion and tops among all sires of 2-year-olds, began his stallion career at Hartley/De Renzo and was relocated to Walmac near Lexington for the 2005 season.
