A Fusaichi Pegasus   filly was purchased by Skara Glen Stable for $1.5 million to top the early portion of Monday's opening session of Keeneland's September yearling sale in Lexington, Ky.

Consigned by Michael Byrne, as agent, the May 15, 2003 foal was produced from the winning Northern Dancer mare Golden Circle, a full sister to European champions Try My Best and El Gran Senor and the dam of Irish group III winner Castle Gandolfo.

Winner of the 2000 Kentucky Derby (gr. I), Fusaichi Pegasus is represented by stakes winner Roman Ruler from his first crop to race, which are 2-year-olds this year.

Second-highest price during the first two hours of the session was the $825,000 bid from Robert Baker and William Mack for a Silver Deputy colt consigned by Monticule. The colt was produced from the winning Gulch mare Flower Canyon.
