TOBA Honors Breeders at Luncheon
Breeders from around the country were recognized Friday afternoon at a luncheon at Keeneland hosted by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association.The breeders, both small and large, are the recipients of the TOBA awards for their achievements in 2003. They will gather with 800 others at Juddmonte Farm later in the evening for TOBA's annual awards dinner. The entertainment is Three Dog Night.TOBA president Dan Metzger presented the awards while mentioning the breeding accomplishments of each. They ranged from the late John Franks, who had hundreds of mares, to Kelly Theising of Oklahoma, who owns just two broodmares."We all have the same ups and downs," said George Brown, the Massachusetts winner. "You get down one day and then one of your horses does well and it picks you right up."
