Jozbin Santana, who fractured his left leg in a spill at Pimlico on Aug. 13, returned to the saddle for the first time Thursday and visited the winner's circle with his first mount.

Santana picked up three mounts on the opening day card of the Pimlico summer-fall meet.

The 25-year old worked two horses in the morning and then asked agent Paul Plymire to get him a mount on Thursday's nine-race card. Santana ended up picking up three rides as the agent's other client, Erick Rodriguez, missed the program with a sore back after a spill on the closing day of the Timonium State Fair meet. Royalmissglitter ($8.40) rewarded the duo with an impressive win in the second race.

"It looks easy when you have that kind of horse," said Santana, who became a father for the second time while recovering. "I was jogging and feel pretty good. It's a good way to return."
