Del Mar On-Track Numbers Hold Their Own

Del Mar set a record for total handle during its meet that ended Sept. 8, while on-track business at the Southern California track held its own.

Including advance deposit wagering, all-sources handle was a record $579,727,110. The daily average of $13,482,026 was up 1.5% from 2003. On-track handle totaled $102,242,998 for a daily average of $2,377,744, down 0.7% from last year.

On-track attendance totaled 733,237 for a daily average of 17,052, up 1% from last summer. Total off-track attendance was 499,526 with a daily average of 11,617, down 7.9% from 2003.

Total attendance--on and off track at satellite facilities in California-- was 1,232,763 for a daily average of 28,669, down 2.8% from last year.
