John Perrotta of Monmouth Beach, NJ, has been elected president of theThoroughbred Breeders Association of New Jersey. An owner and breeder, Perrotta races under the Star Stable banner. The TBANJ board also consists of Dr. Y.K. Kolybabiuk, first vice president; Michael Harrison, second vice president; Jane Gilbert, secretary; and Joseph Jennings, treasurer... A total of 217 juveniles have been cataloged for the Ocala Breeders Sales Company's 2-year-olds in training sale, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Calder Race Course in Miami. The Under Tack Shows are set for Monday, January 29 and Sunday, February 4th, starting both mornings at 10:30 a.m. Tapes of all the workouts will be available for viewing at the sales grounds. The catalog is available online on the OBSC Website at http://www.obssales.com ...Autotote's Connecticut Off-Track Betting network announced that Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone has agreed to continue as the official spokesperson for the next two years. Under the agreement, Krone will continue to be featured in Autotote's radio, newspaper and billboard advertising and will also make several in-state public appearances this year... Michigan Gov. John Engler has re-appointed Annette M. Bacola as Michigan Racing Commissioner. The commissioner is responsible for prescribing and enforcing the rules and regulations governing the conduct and promoting the safety, security, growth and integrity of all pari-mutuel horse racing in the state. Bacola, of Grosse Pointe Farms, has served as the Michigan Racing Commissioner since the governor first appointed her in August 1999. Bacola, who has been re-appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2004, earned a degree in journalism from Graham College in Boston. In addition, she has attended Syracuse University and has done corporate and graduate course work in business administration...For Really has been relocated to Victory Rose Thoroughbreds in Vacaville, California, for the 2001 breeding season. The multiple stakes-winning son of Buckaroo been syndicated and will stand for $2,000.00, live foal guarantee. For Really stood his first three seasons at Billingsley Creek Ranch in Idaho and is the sire of 7% stakes winners and 79% winners from starters...The Jockey Club has published a list of 46,220 names recently released from active use. The names are accessible through The Jockey Club home page at http://home.jockeyclub.com and, for the first time, will be updated daily to remove names as they are claimed. The Jockey Club reported that the number of protected Thoroughbred names has dropped below 425,000 for the first time since the early 1980's.
