Zippy Chippy ran his notorious losing streak to 99 straight races without a victory with a seventh-place finish in a maiden race at Northampton fair in Massachusetts on Saturday.

Zippy Chippy broke well but was steadied around the first turn of the six-furlong race and dropped back under jockey Joe Riston. He never recovered. Early leader Summer Deposit won easily.

Zippy Chippy, sent off at 5-1 for trainer Felix Monseratte, made his first start since last year's Northampton fair meet. He defeated only 84-1 Ordvou, who was pulled up before going a quarter of a mile.
