J. Paul Reddam's Elloluv, a leading 3-year-old filly in 2003 when she won the Ashland Stakes (gr. I), but winless in six subsequent starts in top company, returned to form Thursday with a solid victory in the featured $76,000 Piedra Foundation Handicap.

Elloluv, who was also runner-up to Adoration in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) last year, dominated her opposition with a 2 ½-length win under jockey Corey Nakatani. The daughter of Gilded Time stalked pacesetting Saintly Persuasion until straightened away in the stretch. She then took command and drew off.

Letra de Cambio, a 12-1 longshot, was second, 2 ½ lengths in front of Saintly Persuasion, with Coconut Girl fourth in the field of seven fillies and mares.

Elloluv, equipped with blinkers for the first time by conditioner Craig Dollase, raced the one-mile distance in 1:35 3/5 and returned $4.20 as the strong betting choice. First prize was $45,600 and increased the filly's earnings to $1,267,075. Her record includes five victories in 14 career outings.
