Pimlico Race Course in Maryland ended its 16-day summer meet Aug. 27 with a 10% decrease in average daily total handle. The 2004 meet was six days shorter than the corresponding 2003 meet, though it included four more simulcast-only days.
All-sources handle totaled $52.3 million, compared with $68.1 million in 2003.
Field size for the meet was 8.4 horses per race, up from 7.9 in 2003. Pimlico will reopen Sept. 9 after the close of the Maryland State Fair at Timonium meet. The Baltimore track will host this year's Maryland Million in October.
