Godolphin's Ancient World Wins Winter Hill Stakes

Godolphin Racing's Kentucky-bred Ancient World won the Stan James Winter Hill Stakes (Eng-III) at Windsor Saturday by 1 1/4 lengths.
Kerrin McEvoy broke the 4-year-old Spinning World gelding well and he was second behind pacesetter A One for the first mile. He reached the front two furlongs from home, winning the duel with Gateman in the about-1 1/4-mile event while ridden out in the final stages. The race was run in 2:08.97 on good to soft going.
Darley Stud Management LLC bred Ancient World, who is out of the
Machiavellian mare Headline.
Fruhlingssturm finished third, four lengths behind Gateman, with Pawn Broker fourth.
