One of the biggest promotions anywhere for Thoroughbred owners and trainers will be held Sept. 11 when the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association and Delaware Park team up for their 12th "Owners' Day."

More than 1,200 horsemen and their family members are expected to attend the event, held in conjunction with a live racing program. The 2004 theme is "Hat's Off to Heroes."

The Delaware THA represents more than 2,400 Thoroughbred owners from around the country who race at Delaware Park.

Purses on the Owners' Day program traditionally are increased 50%. This year, purses will total about $700,000. Included on the program are the $200,000 Endine Stakes (gr. II), the $75,000 Owners Day Handicap, and the $75,000 George Rosenberger Memorial. First post is set for 12:45 p.m. EDT.

An equine arts and crafts fair is scheduled for the paddock that day.
