Average, Median Soar, Buyback Rate Down at Second OBSC Open Session

Colts by Snuck In
and Delaware Township
each brought final bids of $70,000 to top the second Open session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2004 August Yearling Sale on Wednesday.
Consigned by Cookson Thoroughbreds, the Snuck In colt was sold to W. D. North, agent. Out of Full Approval, by Deputy Minister
, the bay colt is out of a half sister to stakes placed Lisa's Approval.
Lord Sundridge, a colt by Delaware Township consigned by Beth Bayer, agent was purchased by Wesley Ward. The chestnut colt is out of Lull, by West by West, a half sister to graded stakes placed Adrian.
The sales company reported 234 yearlings grossed $2,933,600, compared with 226 yearlings bringing a total of $2,026,200 in the corresponding session in 2003. The average price was $12,537, a gain of 40% over last year's session average of $8,965, while the median price was $8,000, up 33% from $6,000 last year.
The buyback percentage was 18.2%; it was 25.6% in 2003. Seven yearlings sold for $50,000 or more compared with two last year.
