Jockey Gary Stevens set to make American return.
Jockey Gary Stevens is returning to the U.S. from France, having given up his position as rider for the horses trained in by leading French conditioner Andre Fabre.
Stevens, who has been riding in France for five months, told The Racing Post
, "I'm sad but it's been a difficult month. Certain owners have not been happy with the results that I've been providing."
Stevens rode 55 winners in France and won one group I race, the Prix Maurice de Gheest (Fr-I) with Somnus.
Stevens had a leading role in the hit movie Seabiscuit
. He said he hoped to be involved with a talk show when he returns to the U.S. and also has been contacted about a part in an upcoming movie. He said his agent has begun trying to book mounts for him in California, where he previously rode.
"I'll ride through the Breeders' Cup and then hopefully, if things work out on the other end, I'm going to host a TV show," Stevens told the British-based paper.
