"Dreamer", a new movie starring Kurt Russell that will begin filming the Lexington, Ky. area in September, is seeking extras to appear in various roles, including horseback riders.

The film, about a "down on their luck" family who nurses an injured horse back to health in hopes of running her in the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, is directed by John Gatins and produced by Brian Robbins, Mike Tollin, Hunt Lowry, and Bill Johnson.

The open call for extras is being held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Guignol Theater on the University of Kentucky campus. The UK department of theater will assist in the casting of extras, who are requested to present a non-returnable photo of themselves. According to an announcement from the producers, they are seeking people of all ages and ethnicities to portray townspeople, horse owners, and racing fans. Casting director Shirley F. Crumley said there will be a need for experienced horseback riders to appear in the film.
