Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Birdstone breezed six furlongs in 1:13 4/5, with regular exercise rider Maxine Correa aboard, over Saratoga's Oklahoma training track that was rated "good" on Saturday.
"The track was in good shape and there was a nice cushion," trainer Nick Zito said of the track condition, after rain fell overnight in Saratoga.
The son of Grindstone
worked with Discover the Glory and another horse joined them late.
Meanwhile, at Churchill Downs Suave also had a workout in preparation for the Travers, breezing six furlongs over the sloppy track in 1:18 /45 under exercise rider Shane Borel.
"We just wanted to pump some wind into him before sending him to Saratoga," trainer Paul McGee said. "At the same time, we didn't want to take anything out of him. I thought he did it nice and easy, and galloped strong for the last quarter."
A son of A. P. Indy
, Suave is expected to arrive at Richard Dutrow Jr.'s barn near the Oklahoma Training Track some time Wednesday afternoon
