Grade III stakes winner Lone Star Sky has been retired from racing due to feet problems. The 4-year-old son of Conquistador Cielo ends his career with earnings $504,995. He has a career record of 14-3-4-1.
Trainer Tom Amoss conditioned Lone Star Sky for Walter "Buddy" New. A decision regarding stud plans will be made at a later date.
Lone Star Sky, who was named champion 2-year-old Florida-bred colt, won the 2002 Bashford Manor Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs and the Miller Genuine Draft Cradle Stakes at River Downs. He placed second in the Lane's End Breeders' Futurity (gr. II) at Keeneland. As a 3-year-old he was second in the Risen Star Stakes (gr. III) at Fair Grounds and was third in the Louisiana Derby (gr. II).
Jamie S. Carrion bred Lone Star Sky in Florida out of the
Deputy Minister mare Ministrada.
