Seattle Morn, who stood a major portion of his career in Illinois, died in early August after colic surgery. The 14-year-old son of Grey Dawn II out of the Seattle Slew mare Tilting had been sold and moved to Colorado.
Bred by David V. Ringler and his wife, Seattle Morn initially raced for Ringler and Alan Drey and later for Drey. A two-time stakes winner, he won eight of 39 races, ran second in the Illinois Derby (gr. II), and earned $370,571.
Seattle Morn initially stood in Kentucky, then at Drey's Hampshire Haven Farm near Hampshire, Ill., and later at Fairberry Farm and Lone Cedar Farm, both in Ill. He sired two stakes winners.
