Favored Pie N Burger led at every call, disposing of Meteor Impact in the stretch while recording an easy three-length victory Saturday in the $100,000 Evangeline Downs Mile Handicap in Lafayette, La.

With Jamie Theriot aboard, Pie N Burger completed the mile in 1:37 4/5. Pie N Burger is undefeated in three starts in Louisiana this year.

Meteor Impact held on for second, four lengths ahead of Akanti.

Pie N Burger vied for the lead into the first turn with White Star, established a clear lead after an opening quarter mile in :23 and went on to victory through fractions of :46 4/5 for the half-mile and 1:11 2/5 for six furlongs.

Trained by Cole Norman for owners Kagele Brothers Inc. and James Bailey, the 6-year-old son of Twining was coming off a neck loss to Rare Cure in the Bob Johnson Memorial Stakes at Lone Star Park July 3. He had been second in the Essex Handicap (gr. III) and third in the Razorback Handicap (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park earlier this year.

Overall, Pie N Burger has won 14 of 40 lifetime starts and purses totaling $842,133.

The 7-5 choice paid $4.80, $3.40 and $2.80. Meteor Impact returned $11 and $5.80. Akanti's show was $3.40.
