(from Saratoga notes)Golden Eagle Farm's Yearly Report will take a shot against top 3-year-old filly Ashado in the $750,000 Alabama (gr. I) at 1 1/4 miles Aug. 21 at Saratoga.
The Bob Baffert-trained Yearly Report has lost only once in six starts and has won her last four races, albeit against softer company than what Ashado has faced. The
General Meeting filly owns three grade II scores, including the Santa Ynez, Black Eyed Susan and most recently, the Delaware Oaks.
With her victories in the Kentucky Oaks and Coaching Club American Oaks (both gr. I), Starlight Stables' Ashado has handled the cream of the crop and proved that distance is no problem.
Ashado was defeated by Stellar Jayne in the Mother Goose (gr. I) while clearly not firing her best effort. Stablemate Susan's Angel will join Stellar Jayne in the starting gate for the Alabama from the barn of Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
Others expected for the Alabama are A Lulu Ofa Menifee, Fleet Indian, Honor Point and Last Song.
