The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Thursday that it will offer another "National Pick 4" wager this Saturday, Aug. 14, as part of its "NTRA Super Saturday" series that will be featured on the ABC and ESPN networks.
Saturday will mark the National Pick 4's third appearance of this year, and includes three grade I events -- the $1 million Arlington Million (gr. IT) and the $750,000 Beverly D. Stakes (gr. IT) from Arlington Park; and the $500,000 Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap (gr. IT) from Saratoga -- and the $200,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. II) from Saratoga.
All four races will air on a live telecast Saturday on ABC from 4-6 p.m. EDT. The wager carries a guaranteed pool of $400,000 and a $1 minimum wager amount. To make a wager, patrons should ask for the "National Pick 4."
The first leg of the wager will be the Alfred G. Vanderbilt, scheduled for a post time of 4:15 p.m., followed in direct order by the Beverly D. (4:36 p.m.), the Sword Dancer (4:55 p.m.), and the Arlington Million (5:35 p.m.).
The first of five NTRA National Pick 4 wagers offered this year took place June 12, returning $17,124.50. The total handle was $616,849. The second Pick 4 was offered July 3, with a $1 winning ticket returning $3,939.50 from a total handle of $992,784.
The final two NTRA National Pick 4 wagers will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 19 (ABC, 4-6 p.m. EDT) and Saturday, Oct. 2 (ESPN, 4-6 p.m. EDT).
