Prado Handed Seven-Day Suspension

Jockey Edgar Prado, currently the third leading jockey in the country by earnings, was handed a seven-day suspension for careless riding in the fifth race on Aug. 4 at Saratoga. The jockey appealed the suspension and a stay has been granted.

The suspension, handed down by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board stewards, was to be served from Aug. 5 through Aug. 11.

Prado finished second aboard Cloakof Vagueness in the race won by 4-5 favorite Daydreaming.

Prado is currently second in the standings at Saratoga behind John Velazquez.
