TVG posted the highest quarterly handle in company history for the quarter that ended June 30, Ryan O'Hara, TVG president announced Friday. Keys to the second quarter figures were record wagering of $5.2 million on Kentucky Derby day (May 1) and $3.2 million on Belmont Stakes day (June 5).For the second quarter of 2004, TVG's handle was $88,552,031, a 45% increase from the second quarter of 2003. For the first six months of 2004, TVG's handle was $131,001,353, a 52% increase over the same period a year ago."Throughout this year, we have seen a steady increase in the consumer acceptance of TVG's products and services in the marketplace, which is a positive sign for the entire horseracing industry," O'Hara said in a press release. "Enhanced programming, an extremely compelling Triple Crown, strong race cards from TVG's exclusive track partners, increased cable and satellite distribution of TVG programming and the addition of the state of Washington to the markets in which we accept wagering all played a role in the encouraging second quarter results."TVG recently celebrated their fifth anniversary on the air.
