Lafayette Stakes winner Bwana Charlie will contest Saturday's Amsterdam Stakes.
A small but contentious field of seven will line up Saturday to try and claim honors in the $150,000 Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga. The six-furlong contest has drawn seven combatants, topped by co-highweights Pomeroy and Weigelia.
Pomeroy has banked a win in the Jersey Shore Breeders' Cup (gr. III) and is arguably the most accomplished runner in the field. He was second behind Cuvee in last year's running of the Saratoga Special (gr. II) at the Spa.
Weigelia, Classy Migration, and Bwana Charlie will renew acquaintances after running 1-2-3 in the Carry Back during Calder's Summit of Speed July 10. In addition, Mass Media will be making his second start for trainer Bobby Frankel after winning an allowance at Belmont Park earlier this summer.
The field for the Amsterdam, in post position order with jockeys and weights:
1) Classy Migration (Pat Day, 115)
2) Weigelia (Aurelio Toribio Jr., 123)
3) Mass Media (Jerry Bailey, 117)
4) Bwana Charlie (Shane Sellers, 123)
5) Smokume (Shannon Uske, 121)
6) Quick Action (Robby Albarado, 121)
7) Pomeroy (Edgar Prado, 123)
