Shoulder Knocks Dominguez Out of Action

Jockey Ramon Dominguez was taken off all his mounts Saturday and will not ride again until Wednesday at the earliest, according to his agent Steve Rushing. Dominguez was involved in a spill in the first race at Delaware Park Wednesday and has been riding in some pain since.

"He went for x-rays Wednesday and they said it was just a bruise," said Rushing, former long-time agent for Edgar Prado. "He had an MRI done on Thursday afternoon, but it takes 24 hours to get the results, so he decided to ride at Saratoga yesterday. When he was finished riding, he called for the results and they said he could have a hairline fracture in his shoulder."

Dominguez, who won Friday's first race aboard Credit Gal and rode two other races on the card, will not ride until he sees an orthopedist Tuesday.

"He said he was in a little pain when riding, but it doesn't hurt when he's not," Rushing added. "He doesn't think it's broken, but he's pretty upset about missing today's races. He has to do what's best for his body."
