Miss Vegas, Victory U.S.A Top San Clemente

Miss Vegas, trainer Bobby Frankel's lastest filly turf standout, heads a light field of five for the $150,000 San Clemente Handicap (gr. IIT) at one mile for 3-year-old fillies on the turf at Del Mar Saturday.
Miss Vegas,, undefeated in two starts in this country and winner of seven of eight starts overall, would become a leading contender for the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks (gr. I) Aug. 21. The Irish-bred will shoulder the high weight of 121 pounds and be ridden by David Flores.
She edged Ticker Tape in the Senorita Stakes (gr. III) at Hollywood Park May 15. Most recently, the daughter of Efisio won the one-mile Flawlessly by five lengths at Hollywood Park July 3.
The Bob Baffert-trained Victory U.S.A. is coming off a sixth-place showing in the Acorn (gr. I) at Belmont Park June 4, but won the Stonerside Beaumont Stakes (gr. II) on April 8. She was subsequently fourth in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I).
