Pleasantly Perfect Works Toward San Diego Handicap

Breeders' Cup Classic winner Pleasantly Perfect will run next in the San Diego Handicap.
Edited from Del Mar reportsPleasantly Perfect, winner of the 2003 Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge (gr. I) and Dubai World Cup (UAE-I), put in the "serious" mile workout trainer Richard Mandella expected of him as the 6-year-old son of Pleasant Colony prepped for Del Mar's $250,00 San Diego Handicap (gr. II) Sunday, Aug. 1.
The San Diego is a prep for the $1-million Pacific Classic (gr. I) on Sunday, August 22.
Under regular rider Alex Solis, Pleasantly Perfect was clocked in 1:37.80. He worked in company with Listen Indy, who was given a bullet 1:25.40 for seven furlongs, and let Pleasantly Perfect go on the final eighth of a mile on his own.
"It was a big work," Mandella said. "He's doing just great. It was a serious work."
