Breeders' Cup Classic winner Pleasantly Perfect will run next in the San Diego Handicap.
Pleasantly Perfect, winner of the 2003 Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge (gr. I) and Dubai World Cup (UAE-I), put in the "serious" mile workout trainer Richard Mandella expected of him as the 6-year-old son of Pleasant Colony prepped for Del Mar's $250,00 San Diego Handicap (gr. II) Sunday, Aug. 1.
The San Diego is a prep for the $1-million Pacific Classic (gr. I) on Sunday, August 22.
Under regular rider Alex Solis, Pleasantly Perfect was clocked in 1:37.80. He worked in company with Listen Indy, who was given a bullet 1:25.40 for seven furlongs, and let Pleasantly Perfect go on the final eighth of a mile on his own.
"It was a big work," Mandella said. "He's doing just great. It was a serious work."
