Light Jig Tops Mabee Handicap Field

Light Jig, winner of Hollywood Park's Beverly Hills Handicap (gr. IIT), heads a field of seven older fillies and mares for Saturday's $400,000 John C. Mabee Handicap (gr. IT) at 1 1/8 miles on Del Mar's Jimmy Durante turf course.
The Mabee is the first of three grade I events scheduled for the California seaside track's first weekend of action in its 43-day season which began Wednesday and runs through Wednesday, Sept. 8.
The Robert Frankel-trained Light Jig comes to the race from two victories at Hollywood Park and three wins and a second overall since being sent to the Frankel barn from France by owner-breeder Juddmonte Farms, Frankel's leading client. The 4-year-old daughter of Danehill has career purse earnings of $237,819 from four wins, three seconds and a third in 11 starts.
