Leading freshman sire Successful Appeal   isn't the only son of Valid Appeal attracting attention. Valid Expectations  , who stands at William S. Farish's Lane's End Texas near Hempstead, might undergo a boost in stud fee from $12,500 from this year to $15,000 for next year. But does that mean a transfer to Farish's Lane End Farm in Kentucky?

"His fee might go up, but he'll stay in Texas," Farish said. "He's been so well received and is helping build the industry there."

Eleven-year-old Valid Expectations, who was produced from the Iron Constitution mare Mepache, led the Texas sire list the last two years and is No. 1 this year. He is represented by five stakes winners of 2004.
