The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners will offer $50,000 in incentives to encourage buyers of Ohio-bred yearlings at its Midwest Regional sale Oct. 2 at River Downs.

Two 2-year-old races during the 2005 racing season in Ohio will be designated as "sale bonus" races, one for colts and one for fillies. The races are expected to be run late in the season at 1 1/16 miles as determined by the Ohio State Racing Commission.

For each stakes, $25,000 will be added to the purse for entrants purchased at the 2004 OTBO sale.

"We feel this incentive will really give the sale a needed boost and bring in new consignors and buyers," said Kim Williams of Fair Winds Farm and a member of the OTBO sales committee. "In addition, a 10% breeders award of each $25,000 bonus will be offered. It is a win-win situation for the buyers, breeders, and sellers alike."

The entry deadline for this mixed sale is July 26.
