Walmac International's first-year sire Castle Gandolfo has arrived in Chile for the 2004 Southern Hemisphere breeding season at Haras Mocito Guapo, the stud of Teresa Solari-Fallabella.
Five-year-old Castle Gandolfo covered 76 mares at Walmac, owned by John T.L. Jones Jr., near Lexington after getting a late start. He is scheduled to shuttle two seasons to Mocito Guapo and will cover between 70 and 80 mares this year. His fee is approximately $8,000.
A group winner in Ireland and group I-placed in England and France, Castle Gandolfo is by Gone West out of the Northern Dancer mare Golden Oriole, a full sister to champion El Gran Senor.
