Exceed And Excel, who has been for the past 18 months the highest-rated sprinter Australians have seen in the past 10 years, has run his last race and has been retired to stud. He will stand at Darley in New South Wales at AUST$55,000 (approximately $40,000) live foal, and will reverse-shuttle to Darley's Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
Foaled in 2000, Exceed And Excel (Danehill--Patrona, by Lomond) won seven of 11 races in Australia and was unplaced in his sole English start, retiring with $917,883 in earnings. He scored from 1,100 to 1,400 meters, six of them at the group level, including victories against older opposition in the Dubai Racing Club Cup and the Seppelt Wines Newmarket Handicap, both group I.
