Moyglare Stud Farm's matriarch Grenzen, dam of millionaire Twilight Agenda and granddam of Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Go and Go, died in Kentucky at age 29. A full time resident of Eaton Farms near Lexington since 1978 and pensioned since 1998, Grenzen holds a prominent place in breeding history as the dam or granddam of four grade/group I winners.

Moyglare, owned by Walter Haefner, bought the breeding rights in Grenzen for a reported $400,000 in the fall of 1978 when she was in training. The best of Grenzen's 13 offspring was Twilight Agenda. The son of Devil's Bag was a grade I winner who earned $2,174,529.

As a granddam, Grenzen is represented not only by Go and Go, but also prominent overseas runners Refuse To Bend, Media Puzzle, and Munaaji. A son of Sadler's Wells, Refuse To Bend has been a group I winner all three years he has raced and was an Irish champion last year. His most recent win came this summer in the Coral Eclipse Stakes (Eng-I). His half-brother, Media Puzzle (by Theatrical), scored his big win in the Toohey's New Melbourne Cup Handicap (Aust-I). Munaaji (by Storm Cat) was a champion in Germany.

Go and Go, winner of the 1990 Belmont, was the second Irish-bred winner of the historic race. The son of Be My Guest also was an Irish champion.

Bred in Kentucky by William Walker and Mrs. Howard Wells' Fayette Farm, Grenzen (Grenfall--My Poly, by Cyclotron) was purchased at the 1976 Keeneland September yearling sale for $11,000 by California veterinarian John Woolsey Jr. for his wife, Jacqueline, his partner's wife Marjorie Schaffer, and Diane Delaplaine. Trained by Loren Rettele, Grenzen won eight of 24 starts and earned $346,490. She captured six stakes, five of which were graded, including the Santa Susana Stakes (gr. II) and Santa Monica (gr. II) and Santa Maria (gr. II) Handicaps.

Grenzen's female descendants total almost a quarter of the Moyglare Stud broodmare band.
