(from Hollywood Park notes)Trainer Dan Hendricks suffered spinal injuries in a motorcycle accident in Riverside County, Calif., on Wednesday.
"I visited him in Riverside County Hospital yesterday and am going to see him again today," said Anne Alley, an exercise rider for his stable, from Hollywood Park Friday. "He likes to do motocross racing, and that's how it happened."
Doctors were exploring the extent of the injuries. Marty Wygod, one of his owners, was helping to transfer him to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, where leading neurological specialists would see him.
Hendricks, 45, and his wife, Samantha, have three children. He formed his own stable in 1987 after working under Richard Mandella for nine years.
Hendricks is preparing stakes winner Runaway Dancer for the $150,000 Sunset Handicap (gr. IIT), closing-day feature at Hollywood on July 18. He scored the biggest victory of his career at Hollywood with the Wygod-owned Private Persuasion in the Vanity Handicap (gr. I) in 1995.
