Strong storms that rolled through parts of western Kentucky Monday damaged a barn and uprooted a handful of trees at Ellis Park in Henderson. No injuries were reported.
Severe weather that included high winds, thunder, lightning and heavy rains hit the area at approximately 1 p.m. (CDT).
One tree blown over by the strong winds collapsed onto Barn 22. None of the horses in the barn at the time were injured and all were evacuated and relocated to other barns at the track.
Ellis Park vice president and general manager Paul Kuerzi said the storm damage would have no impact on the track's meet opener Wednesday.
