Harrington Duo Challenges in Landaluce

Trainer Mike Harrington entered a pair of 2-year-olds I Can Yodele and Swiss Please in Monday's $100,000-added Landaluce Stakes (gr. III) the Hollywood Park championship for 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs.

Both fillies are California-bred daughters of Swiss Yodeler. I Can Yodele, owned by Heinz Steinmann, broke her maiden at second asking at Hollywood Park on June 9. Swiss Please, co-owned by Harrington and Keith and Joy Vanderhouwen, finished third in the Cinderella Stakes as the 2-1 favorite on June 6.

Harrington, usually among the leading trainers of 2-year-olds on the Southern California circuit, finished fourth in the Landaluce last year with Alpenwald.

A field of 11 lines up, headed by Souvenir Gift, who won the Cinderella by 4 1/2 lengths with Mike Smith aboard.

The bay daughter of Souvenir Copy is unbeaten in two starts for trainer Sam Semkin after completing the 5 1/2-furlong Cinderella in 1:04 4/5. She broke her maiden in a two-furlong race at Santa Anita April 14.

Fortunate Event, second in the Cinderella, also returns in the Landaluce.
