Suffolk Downs cancelled live racing on Saturday and Sunday due to a snowstorm that has also closed Aqueduct and Philadelphia Park for both days. The East Boston oval will remain open for simulcasting.
On Friday, the New York Racing Association announced the cancellation of Aqueduct's Friday and Saturday cards due to an impending snowstorm and the addition of racing this Wednesday, a scheduled dark day. The Gallant Fox Handicap, originally scheduled for Saturday, will be redrawn and run on Monday. Sunday's Alex M. Robb Handicap will be run next Saturday.
Philadelphia Park, citing the same forecast, also announced Saturday's cancellation on Friday. At 9:00 a.m. (EST) Saturday as heavy snow continued to fall, Sal Sinatra, the track's director of racing, cancelled Sunday's card. At that time six inches of snow had already fallen at the track, with forecasters calling for about 10 inches. Live racing will resume at Philadelphia Park on Monday.
