Robert LaPenta's Pies Prospect became trainer Nick Zito's fifth 3-year-old colt to win a stakes this year, as he drew off to a 5 1/2-length victory in the $50,000 Floor Show Stakes at Delaware Park Tuesday.

The son of Crafty Prospector was sent off as the 9-5 favorite in the eight-horse field that included Lane's End Stakes (gr. II) winner Sinister G. With Norberto Arroyo Jr. aboard, Pies Prospect tracked the early pace set by Sinister G and longshot Minnemana, took over after turning for home and quickly drew clear, covering the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.93.

Another longshot, Gmork, finished second, two and a half lengths in front of Zakocity. Sinister G tired to finish sixth.

LaPenta also owns Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) winner The Cliff's Edge, who may run next in the July 11 Dwyer Stakes (gr. II).

Pies Prospect was a $95,000 buy-back at the Keeneland April 2-year-old sale last year after being picked out by Zito for $195,000 at the previous year's Keeneland September yearling sale. Prior to the Floor Show, he finished fourth in the Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II).
