Trainer McCanna First to Win 400 at Emerald Downs

Tim McCanna became the first trainer in Emerald Downs' history to win 400 career races at the Auburn, Wash., racetrack after his charge Duke of Kent won the sixth race on Sunday.

McCanna, a five-time leading trainer at the track, has an Emerald Downs' career record of 400-411-339 from 2,217 starts.

In addition to winning the training title in 1997, McCanna has claimed the last four training titles at Emerald Downs.

McCanna, 42, took out his trainer's license at Playfair Race Course in Spokane, Washington in 1981.
