(from Delaware Park report)Ridden by Norberto Arroyo Jr., Steven Peskoff's Coined For Success made every pole a winning one on his way to posting an upset victory in the $75,000 Nick Shuk Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park today.
The 3-year-old gelded son of Gold Token won by 2 1/2 lengths and returned $20.80 as the fourth choice in the field of six. The Shuk was originally scheduled for the turf, but was transferred to the main track due to rain in the area yesterday, prompting five late scratches.
Wanaka, with Nick Petro aboard, finished second and it was another 4 1/2 lengths farther back to the 2-to-5 favorite Paddington, with Ramon Dominguez.
Coined For Success cut early fractions of :46.94 for the half mile and 1:11.55 for the three-quarters mile before completing the mile and an eighth in 1:45.10 over a good main track. The New York-bred trained by Del Carroll III raised his career mark to four wins from nine starts with earnings of $140,000.
