Gerald Ford's grade II winner Reciclada has been retired from racing after suffering a sesamoid injury on her left front leg during a four-furlong workout at Santa Anita on Dec. 24. The Chilean-bred mare was scheduled to run in the Dec. 29 Monrovia Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Santa Anita. She won the Nov. 24 Delta Air Lines Top Flight Handicap (gr. II) at Aqueduct in her final start and was retired with $384,474 in earnings.
Five-year-old Reciclada (Rictorious -- Exing, by Exceller) captured nine of 21 races in North America and Chile, where she was a group II winner. In addition to the Top Flight, she won the Eatontown (gr. IIIT) and Ben P. Walden Sr. Memorial Stakes in her other North American added-money triumphs. Breeding plans have not been completed.
