Stakes winner Irish Conquest and grade II stakes-placed Gray Raider will enter stud at Donald Jones' LoAnJo Farm near Sugar Loaf, N.Y. Seven-year-old Irish Conquest (Conquistador Cielo -- Irish Colors, by Hoist the Flag) captured the 1998 Deputy Minister Handicap over Frisk Me Now at Gulfstream Park among his seven wins from 41 starts. He placed in five stakes, all of which were graded and/or $100,000 or more in value. He finished second in the Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup Sprint Championship (gr. III) and Kenny Noe Jr. Handicaps and was third in the Illinois Derby (gr. II) and Lafayette (gr. III) and Dancing Spree Stakes. A $362,635-earner, he will stand on behalf of a syndicate for $3,000 live foal.
Six-year-old Gray Raider, a son of Rubiano, ran second in the 1996 Saratoga Special Stakes (gr. II) in his third start and won five of 22 races and earned $219,746. His dam, stakes winner Miss Creeker (by Red Ryder), produced three stakes winners. Gray Raider is owned by a partnership and will stand for $2,000 live foal.
