Excessive Barb Sets Bay Meadows Turf Mark

The 4-year-old colt Excessive Barb set a record on Bay Meadows' Longden Turf Course Sunday when he ran five furlongs in :56.32 seconds and crushed seven rivals in the fifth race.

Trained by Ruben Cardenas and ridden by Roberto Gonzalez, Excessive Barb won the $32,000 claiming race by six lengths and bettered the former mark of :56.71 clocked by Lytle Creek on Aug. 18, 2003.

Excessive Barb, a California-bred son of In Excess, is owned by Pasq and Pasq, Inc.
