Breeders' Cup Distaff champion Spain, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, will be the starting highweight at 123 pounds for Saturday's grade I La Brea Stakes at seven furlongs. Joining Spain in the starting gate will be the Bob Baffert-trained Chilukki, 1999 Juvenile champion filly and the undefeated Serenita, conditioned by Bobby Frankel.

Trainer Vladimir Cerin will take a shot with Penny Blues. "I ran her once at Oak Tree and she ripped a shoe off," said Cerin. "It wasn't a very good experience for her but she's good now."

The lineup for Saturday's $200,000 La Brea Stakes, in post position order, with jockeys: Spain, Victor Espinoza, 123; Chilukki, Gary Stevens, 121; Serenita, Corey Nakatani, 115; Cover Gal, Laffit Pincay Jr., 119; Penny Blues, Eddie Delahoussaye, 119, and Queenie Belle, Brice Blanc, 119.
