Edited NTRA releaseUndefeated Visa Triple Crown Challenge hopeful Smarty Jones galloped at Philadelphia Park the morning of May 25 and was pronounced by trainer John Servis as ready for his May 28 work.With exercise rider Peter van Trump aboard, Smarty Jones galloped 1 7/8 miles on the main track at Philly Park. "I got him the last mile in about 2:04," Servis said. "He had his neck bowed and was into it big-time. He's just happy. He's going to be anxious to work (May 28)."Roy and Patricia Chapman's Smarty Jones is scheduled to work seven furlongs with jockey Stewart Elliott at 5:30 a.m. EDT at Philly Park. The undefeated colt by Elusive Quality is tentatively scheduled to ship to Belmont Park June 2.Servis said Smarty Jones shows no signs of fatigue. "He's out to please--he'll give me whatever I ask him," the trainer said. "I'm very confident. I'm really happy with where he is right now."Servis said he is holding up well despite a busy schedule that comes with the territory of training a possible Triple Crown champion. "I'm good," Servis said. "I finally got to run a couple of horses (May 24) and they didn't run bad. We've got some more running this week, and we're starting to get back in the swing of things. I'm glad to be back full speed."
