Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Tiznow worked six furlongs Friday in preparation for a possible start in the San Fernando Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita Jan. 13. The work, however, left trainer Jay Robbins uncertain if the colt's left front foot is completely healed.
"I thought he was all right," said Robbins of the work. "He looked all right. But when Chris (McCarron) got off him, he said (Tiznow) didn't feel quite like himself. He's had a soft tissue injury to his left front foot. We'll have the vet look at it and appraise the situation later this morning."
As for the work itself, Tiznow breezed six furlongs in 1:12 4/5 on the main track at Santa Anita under McCarron.
"If you want him to work slow, you just let him go," said McCarron. "If you want him to work fast, you pull on him. He pulled me all the way to the eighth pole but he didn't finish with his usual gusto. But then, he's supposed to get a little tired, it was his first three-quarter work since the Breeders' Cup."
