The inclement weather that has hit the Midwest and Northeast continues to have a negative impact on live racing.
At Turfway Park, which conducted live racing Wednesday night for the first time in more than a week, cancelled the Thursday night card due to "continued snow...temperatures dipping to 30 below zero with the wind chill." The track, which hopes to resume live racing Friday, had cancelled five consecutive days before Wednesday's card was completed. The track remains open for simulcasting.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the final two races at Hawthorne Racecourse near Chicago, Ill. Were cancelled due to inclement weather and unsafe track conditions led to cancellation of entire card at Penn National and at Suffolk Downs following the fifth race.
