Post positions for the eleven starters in Saturday's Preakness Stakes.
Trainer John Servis hopes that seven continues to be his lucky number as he selected that post position for Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Smarty Jones in Saturday's Preakness Stakes (gr. I).

Based on blind draw that was held earlier Wednesday to determine the selection order for post positions by connections of the 11 Preakness entries, the connections of Little Matth Man picked first, followed by Smarty Jones.

"We've had a lot of luck with number seven," Servis said, noting that the Elusive Quality   colt started from post position seven in the Rebel and Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park and that his Derby victory was his seventh win in a row, with no defeats.

Lion Heart, the speedy colt trained by Patrick Biancone who set the pace in the Derby before finishing second, will start from the rail.

"We may surprise some people," Biancone said. "I took post one because we want to be on the inside. We're happy with the draw. If we had gone first we still would have taken Post 1."

Eddington, who did not qualify for the Derby on graded stakes earnings, selected post nine.

"We're ready for Saturday," trainer Mark Henning said. "He's been anxious. He was ready to run two weeks ago, and since then we've tried to keep him on an even keel. We opened his blinkers just a touch for this race.

Another new shooter, Rock Hard Ten, lines up in the tenth stall.
