Mr. Livingston won the $75,000 Carterista Handicap at Calder Race Course on Saturday with jockey Chris Morales in the irons.
The gray 7-year-old horse found room along the hedge to slip past pacesetter Hear No Evil at the quarter pole in the 1 1/16-mile turf race and drew off to win by four lengths over the late-running Believe I Can Fly. Marco's Word came in third. Hear No Evil faded to finish sixth.
Trained by Bill Kaplan, Mr. Livingston has now won ten races from 38 lifetime starts, with eight of those victories coming at Calder. The win pushes his career earnings to $429,285. Owned by Teresa and David Palmer, it was Mr. Livingston's first trip to the winner's circle since taking the Nijinsky's Secret overnight handicap here last July.
Sent off at odds of 11-to-1, Mr. Livingston enjoyed a ground saving trip under Morales, who guided the Kentucky bred son of El Prado
along the hedge and found plenty of racing room turning for home in the turf race. He was timed in 1:40 2/5 over a firm turf course.
Mr. Livingston paid $24.40, 12.00 and 7.00. Believe I Can Fly returned $12.80 and 7.60; Marco's Word paid $4.80 to show.
