A Lite the Fuse colt turned in the fastest quarter-mile work Friday during the first session of the under tack show for the Barretts May sale of 2-year-olds in training. Consigned by Terry Oliver, agent, he covered the distance in :21.1 at Fairplex Park in Southern California. The colt is out of the stakes-placed
Slew City Slew mare Sweetheart Slew. He was purchased by Karubian, Landsburg, and Posteur for $40,000 earlier this year at the Adena Springs juvenile auction in Florida.
An
In Excess colt named Mr Charlie D and a Distinctive Cat filly set pace at an eighth of a mile, each with a clocking of :10. Mr. Charlie D is out of the winning Coastal mare Scrod and is a half-brother to added-money winner Discard the Five (by Prospectors Gamble). Mr Charlie D's consignor is B.C.3 Thoroughbreds, agent for Dr. Lewis Duncan. Consigned by Ben Craft, agent, the Distinctive Cat filly is out of the Mangaki mare Semeli Semili, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Loon's Cry (by
Lear Fan). Big Time Thoroughbred purchased her as a yearling last October at Barretts for $7,000.
The second session of the under tack show is Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. (PDT). The sale is scheduled for Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m.
